Field Notes - Birch Bark Limited Edition
Field Notes' 60th Quarterly Limited Edition for Fall 2023 is titled "Birch Bark." This edition is designed to reflect the birch tree's simplicity, elegance, and austerity. Inspired by the white, papery bark of the Betula genus, the cover stock features a speckled 110# Mohawk Loop "Snow" paper, which has been heavily debossed with a touch of warm grey.
In the autumn, bright green birch leaves transform into radiant yellow. As winter arrives and the leaves fall to the ground, a birch forest appears colourless against the backdrop of snow, making it an ideal subject for black-and-white photography. These three stages of the birch tree's seasonal cycle are represented in the green, yellow, and black staples of the memo books in each 3-Pack and in the graph colours of the 60# Finch Opaque body paper.
This edition is uncomplicated and useful, carrying on a tradition of writings passed down through generations on birch bark. It reminds us of past Autumn releases that were well-received, such as "Mackinaw Autumn," "Fire Spotter," and "Shenandoah."
These elegant journals will be valuable for capturing thoughts and memories this autumn. As Robert Frost once said, "Swinging on birch trees is not a bad way to spend your time."
